Laura Klee, RNC, MSN

Tai-Wei Wu, MD

Lars Bode, PhD

Laura received her BSN and MSN from CSULA. She has worked in the NICU at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for over 40 years. She has taken on many roles over the years including ECMO coordinator, clinical manager, transport nurse, clinical instructor, and relief house supervisor. She is currently staff CNIV in the NICU at CHLA.
Dr. Wu is an attending neonatologist and director of therapeutic hypothermia program at CHLA. His research
focuses on neonatal brain injury and hemodynamics, with an ultimate goal to identify modifiable factors in the neonatal intensive care setting that will improve neurological outcomes of infants with brain injury.
Dr. Bode is Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology. He is now leading a research program
dedicated to investigating human milk oligosaccharide biosynthesis and functions

Alexa O'Dell

Alexa is mom to son Cael (14) and twin daughters, Carsyn (13) and Riley, who were born at 24-weeks. The O’Dell family navigated the loss of Riley, a 118-day NICU journey and meeting the needs of a toddler at home. Since 2008, Alexa has served in a volunteer capacity as the Family Advisory Council chair for Benefis Health System NICU. She has been involved in quality improvement work with the Vermont Oxford Network.


David P. Dimmock, MD

Dr. Le is Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She maintains a clinical practice at Miller Children's and Long Beach Memorial Hospitals where she provided clinical services in the area of infectious diseases to both adult and pediatric patients.
Dr. Dimmock is an internationally renowned expert in the field of clinical genomic medicine. His current post is as the medical director of the newly formed Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine.

General Conference Information

This conference is designed for neonatal healthcare professionals and interested students, offering current information pertinent to everyday practice in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. 

SCANN - The Southern California Association of Neonatal Nurses was established in 1989. Our goal is to facilitate an exchange of information and to establish a forum for networking among neonatal nurses and other neonatal healthcare professionals, making continuing education available to its members on a regular basis.

Accreditation - The Southern California Association of Neonatal Nurses (SCANN), a chapter of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (provider #ECP9626) to offer 7 to 8 contact units for this education conference.

Tuition - Your registration fee includes: full tuition, continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments at breaks, and parking. Registration confirmation will be sent to all via e-mail.
